Finally, the premiere day for Cashmere Mafia has arrived! Don’t miss tonight’s premiere on a special day/time following Desperate Housewives. Then come back for the next episode in Cashmere’s regular timeslot Wednesday at 10/9c. Here’s the official synopsis for tonight’s premiere:
In the premiere episode, “Pilot,” Mia and Jack Cutting make a quintessential New York power couple. Just engaged, the two face off in a cut-throat, “survivor-style” competition in order to determine which of them will be promoted to U.S. Group Publisher at Barnstead Media Group. A smitten Caitlin must face up to the strange but wonderful feelings she is encountering with a new love interest at the office. Meanwhile, Juliet decides on a unique method of payback for her husband Davis’ indiscretions and simultaneously, in a bold move, must decide whether to drop her public image to step out in the world. And Zoe and her husband, Eric, are on another 24/7 whirl of balancing their full-time careers and the challenge of being good parents to two small children — all with good humor. But how long will it be before the wheels come off the cart?

ABC made the nets’ first major strike-related scheduling change Monday morning, yanking “Cashmere Mafia” off the docket for now.
“Cashmere Mafia” was set to launch Nov. 27 at 10 p.m., behind the final episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” before moving to its normal Tuesday at 9 p.m. slot the following week. Instead, the show will now remain on the bench and serve as a utility player in case ABC needs more scripted originals later in the season.
To replace the “Mafia” hole, ABC will now bump the two-hour “Dancing With the Stars” finale to 9 p.m. At 8, Alphabet will run the holiday perennial “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
Specials are on tap to fill the Tuesday 9 p.m. slot in future weeks for the time being.
From Sony Pictures TV, “Cashmere Mafia” stars Lucy Liu, Frances O’Connor, Miranda Otto and Bonnie Somerville as successful, driven women in New York City. Darren Star, Kevin Wade, Jeff Rake, Gail Katz and Michael Pressman are exec producers.
NBC still has the similarly themed “Lipstick Jungle” on tap; “Mafia’s” scheduling change now means the battle resumes to see which network gets their project on air first.

The ‘Sex and the City’ costume designer brings her eclectic sensibility to ‘Cashmere Mafia.’ But don’t expect any giant flower brooches.

NEW YORK — PATRICIA FIELD’S deep and smoky voice echoes through a cavernous photo studio where she has been readying the cast of “Cashmere Mafia” for their publicity stills. Field whirls onto the set with magenta hair, turquoise frame spectacles and her fists full of vintage leather belts. She is debating which belts the show’s four leads should wear. In the end she decides to mix it up. She is very good at mixing it up.
To call Field a costume designer is an understatement. She is, after all, the woman whose work on “Sex and the City” turned the groundbreaking cable show into a weekly catwalk. Tutu skirts, flower brooches and nameplate necklaces have never been the same since. And the Manolo Blahniks? Without Field, they wouldn’t be a household word.

USA Weekend has a bit of an interview with Frances O’Connor (Zoe):
It’s a busy day here on the celebrity beat. Kathy told you about yakking with the adorable Queer Eye guys. I want them to come and make me over. But I just got off the phone with Frances O’Connor, who is filming Cashmere Mafia, the ABC show that will premiere on Nov. 27. It’s from the creator of Sex and the City and it’s styled by Patricia Field, who did all the costumes on SATC, so it will be compared to SATC no matter that it is different in some fundamental ways. O’Connor, who plays an investment banker, moved from London to NYC to be in the show that she hopes will go for at least a full season. She’s having fun living in New York, with her boyfriend, a Scot actor, and their son. “It’s great to have the opportunity to come and live in New York. Who wouldn’t jump at it?” she says in her Nicole Kidman-like Australian accent. You won’t hear that in the show, though. She’s learning to speak American.
